Well the day has finally come!! Our house is under contract!!! It was been a long journey to get to this point and we are so excited to see what the future holds. So lets back up a little and I will start at the beginning.
Last year around Christmas time, Chris and I made the decision that it was time to put our house up for sale and move into town and into something bigger. For those of you who don't know much about our current house it is 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and 1200 sq. feet. But we are on 3.5 acres. Yes, all five of us live in it and all the kids share a room!!
For many years, we had gone back and forth about weather to expand the house which was our goal when we bought the house back in 2005 or to sell. Once MaKinley came and Chris started working for his parents and I was driving into town everyday, we realized the best option for our family was to move into town.
So after Christmas we went a rented a storage unit and started cleaning out the house and getting it ready to show. It took us a while to fix somethings that needed fixing and to get it up on the market. When we decided to put it on the market our goal was to hopefully have it up by May and to be in a new house before Ryan started Kindergarten, so we did not have to switch schools. While this was our goal, the whole time we knew that God a had ultimate control and all would happen when it was suppose too.
We finally got the house on the market the middle of June. For the first 4 weeks or so, we had lots of showings. The feedback we got was everyone like the house and property, but it was to small. While we knew this was something we could not change, we knew just like when we bought the house that it would take a special couple or someone to see what we saw and buy our house.
Once school started, things had slowed down and we where not showing very much. Then one day, we had some people very interested in it and where told they would make an offer soon. I was excited, but knew that something was not right about it and sure enough it fell through. Then on Halloween, we got a call with an official offer and by the end of the evening we had negotiated and all agreed upon a price and conditions.
Chris and I were very excited!!! But also knew that it would be a process to get to closing day and would trust that God would see us to it.
Now it was time to find us a new home!!!! We had been looking and had some homes we really liked. We put an offer in on one, but they would not budge on there asking price and it was not in our price range. So then we moved to house that was the same floor plan, but I didn't love a whole lot. After putting in an offer, we were told that it was a rent house with tenants in it. After a week of trying to find out if their lease could be broken and never getting an answer, we had to go back to looking. And I am so glad that we did. Because we found a house that we loved even more. When we walked in I could see our kids growing up in this house and in the neighborhood. So we put in an offer and waited. It took a while to here back, but finally we got a counter offer and after some negotiation we all agreed and signed a contract.
So this is where we are now. Our house is under contract and just waiting for the closing date which is set for the day after Thanksgiving and we are waiting to get the contract to sign and start the option period for it.
Here are some pics of starting to pack up the house. Once all is said and done I will update you.
This was all just out of the attic!
