Helping Daddy at Work One Last Time

The other day we went to have dinner and let the kids play on the fire truck one last time before he leaves the department. I have to say we picked a good day to go, cause it was clean the engine day. The boys had so much fun washing the truck. I have to say that I think the boys are going to miss the fire truck more than daddy.

Big Changes

So everyone says that a baby changes your life. While that is so true, this baby is not even here yet and we are facing many changes. The big one is that Chris is leaving the Fire/EMS service after 13 years to go work for his dad.

Why?

Well, they have talked before about Chris coming to work for him after he retired for the Fire Department. But lately, their business has grown a lot and he is needing help. So he called and offered Chris a job that would provide a more stable schedule and allow him to be able to participate in the boys activities as they get older. While, it is going to be an adjustment. I think that when all is settled down and we have established a routine, we are going to find that this was a good move. I am very excited to have home every night and on holidays.

What about his love for Fire/EMS?

We have talked about that and once things have settled down. He is going to look into maybe doing some teaching or working part time somewhere. I know that Fire/EMS is his passion and I hope that we will be able to find a way for his to still pursue it.

So as you can see, we are already facing big changes in our family this year and we thought having another baby was going to be the only one. I have to say, just like in my post awhile back, God has a better plan for us than we think.

Last Day of MDO

Yesterday was the last day of school for the boys. Both of them had luau parties. I went up there about 11:30 to help them with their parties. I have to say that I am very impressed at how far they have come with their learning this past year and I totally love their school and it's program.

Here are some pics from their last day.

Here is pics from the first day to compare how much they have changed in a year.

Miranda Lambert and Mother's Day

This year for Mother's Day, Chris got tickets for us to go see Miranda Lambert in Dallas for the weekend. We had such an awesome time. Thursday evening, I met my parents in Flatonia to drop off the boys and then headed back to have dinner with a girl friend.

On Friday, I got up and started to pack and wait for Chris to get home from his meeting so we could get on the road to Dallas. We finally got on the road about 1 o'clock and what was suppose to be a 4 hour drive took us about 5 hours, because traffic was so horrible from Austin to Waco. Once we got to Dallas and checked in to the hotel we headed over to my Uncle Emil and Aunt Laura's house for dinner and to visit. We have seen them in a long time, so it was nice to see them and catch up.

Saturday, we woke up and got some breakfast at the hotel and then headed back up to the room to just relax and enjoy not having any kids around. Oh, we missed them like crazy, but it was nice to not have to be fussing at anyone. Around noon, we headed out to get some lunch and then took a drive out to DFW to watch the airplanes. Both Chris and I love to just sit at the run way and watch them take off and land. Soon it was time to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and to go see Miranda Lambert.

For dinner we went and ate at a sushi bar called Sushi Axtom. We sat at the sushi bar and had some of the best sushi ever. It was really good and the people were very friendly. After dinner we made our way to the venue where Miranda would be performing. Before she came on Chris Young and Jerrod Neimann opened up for her. They were both really good and we enjoyed their performance. Then it was time for Miranda. I have to say I just love her and her music. She is just real and you can so relate to her. She gave an awesome performance for about 2 hours. About half way trough her performance her trio group that she started Pistol Annie's came out. They were awesome too. After the concert, we head back to the hotel, for we had to get up early and hit the road to go get our munchkins.

Sunday, we got on the road and headed down to El Campo to get the boys. We ended up meeting them in Garwood at deer camp. We hung out their for a while to spend some time with my mom on Mother's Day and then hit the road back to New Braunfels, because Chris had to work the next day.

I have to say that is was so nice to get away and have some us time. It will probably be the last time until after the new baby arrives that we could get away.

Sorry, I don't have any pics from the weekend. I forgot my camera and the pics on my phone were not that great.
