What a week!!!
I wanted to update everyone on how everyone is doing around here. I am still working on getting the rest of Christmas and New Year's pictures up, but I know people are wondering about Zach.
It all started Saturday the 8th with everyone feeling sick. Chris ended up staying home from work hoping to get rid of what he was feeling, because he was leaving the next day for Frisco for a conference. So we spent the day hanging out not doing much of anything.
Sunday, we woke up and everyone was fine. Chris left for his conference and the boys and I headed to the Spiteri's to hang out and watch the Chief's game.(Uncle J is a huge Chief's fan.) That evening when we were getting ready to leave Ry started to complain about his tummy hurting. But on the way home he crashed and slept through the night.
Monday: That morning we woke up and Ry said he felt better. What a relief. So we hung out at the house that morning cleaning and picking things up, cause Daddy was coming home for the night so he could take a test in Austin the next morning. Later that afternoon after nap we meet the Gibbon's at a new jump place here in New Braunfels. The kids had a blast. We will definitely be going back. After the jump we headed to McD's for some dinner with the Gibbon's. On the way, Ry started to complain about his tummy again. I asked him if he need to go to the bathroom and could he wait till we got to McD's. He said, yes he could. As we are pulling in the parking lot I hear the every so awful sound of him pucking. I felt so bad for him. Thankfully Grandma's was near by and we headed straight there to get the poor guy all cleaned up.
Once we got him and the car all cleaned up. He said he was feeling better and he still wanted Chicken nuggets. So we headed back to McD's. Thankfully he feel asleep on the way home and had only a couple of bites.
Later that evening, he ended up throwing up again after drinking some sprite. Also at this point, I started to feel queasy in the stomach. Thankfully Chris arrived home was able to help take care of Ry who slept with us that night.
Tuesday: About 5 in the morning I was still feeling queasy and could not get comfortable in bed. So, I got up and ended up throwing up. After that I felt better, but still not 100% . As morning approached, I ended up having diahierra. This was not fun at all. Chris was having to leave and I was alone with 2 kids. Thankfully, it subsided and by that afternoon we were all feeling better.
Wednesday and Thrusday: These days were pretty uneventful. We hung out at the house. Chris came home Wednesday evening for conference with flowers. I was very surprised.
Thrusday night after putting Zach to bed, I noticed that his breathing was a little labored and deciced that if it was the same in the morning I would take him to the dr.
Friday: That morning Zach woke a little earlier than normal so I brought him into bed with me, since Chris had already left for work. As we were laying there I noticed he was doing the whole backwards breathing and was very congested. After sucking out his nose, he cough up some very big mucous chunks. I called Chris and told him that I was going to make an appointment to get Zach check out, since we were approaching the weekend and I didn't like what I was seeing. We were able to get an appointment for 10:00 that morning.
When we got to dr. office our favorite Nurse Tasha was there and got us back right way. She took one look at Zach and had the Dr. come in so she could listen to him and start a breathing treatment. After the first treatment his sats. were not coming up. So we did a second one. Mind you, Zach does not like these treatments and screamed the whole time. Still there was no change. That is when the possibilty of the hospital came up. I called Chris to let him know, so he could notify people at work and make the necessary arrangements if we did end up there. They started a third treatment and after that his sats were even lower. They put him on oxygen and started to paper work for the hospital. By this point, I was scared anymore I just wanted my baby to feel better. Also, while there they did just a check-up and discovered he had an ear infection in the ear that the tube fell out of.
After getting all the necessary paperwork we left and headed to Grandma's shop to drop Ryan off before going to the hosptial. I have to say that I was so proud of Ry that day. The whole time we where at the Dr. office doing the breathing treatments he was so good. I never had to get on him for anything. It made that time so much easier to deal with.
After dropping Ryan off and getting him situated to go to Kiefer's for the afternoon, we head to the hospital. At this point, I started to notice a changing in Zach for the better. Once at the hospital they got up admitted and started to monitor his sat levels and did a check x-ray. We continued breathing treatments every couple of hours and also started on antibotics. He did not like anyone who came near him, not even Daddy. He was put on oxygen. At first he didn't like it, but then he got use to it.
That evening and night were very rough. He had been given a steroid and that made him very hyper just about the time it was time for bed. He riped the oxygen off 4 times that we ended up leaving off as long as his sats. stayed up. He feel asleep several times in my arms, but everytime I went to try to lay him down he would wake up screaming. Finally around 11:30 that night he passed out and we were able to lay him in the crib. Chris then left to go to his parents while I stayed with Zach. It was a very rough night with people in and out.
Saturday: Zach woke up around 5 something and end up sleeping with me. Around seven we woke up for the day. I went to get my phone and noticed a text for Chris that he sent around 5:30 says he was running fever and had the same thing I had had earlier in the week. So I immediately call to check on him and try to figure out a game plan for the day.
Around 9ish, Chris showed up at the hospital feeling a little better. Which gave me a break to shower and get ready for the day to come. The Dr. came by around 9:30 to explain the chest x-ray and to let us know that if his sats stayed about 93 when he took a nap we could go home that afternoon. We also had to get a nebulizer before going home to continue the breathing treatment.
So while Zach and I tried to take a nap, Chris left to go get the nebulizer and some other thing we were going to need. After Zach's nap, we order some lunch and called Daddy to tell him we could go home afte lunch. I was so glad to go home. By this point, Zach was running back and forth in the room. There was no keeping him down.
Zach was so happy to go home that he did not want me to carry him out of the hospital. He walked out all by himself and told everyone bye as he left. I think he was glad to be leaving too.
So as you can see, we had a very eventful week. I just hope this is not how are whole year is going to go. If so, it is going to be a long year.
Here are some random pics that I have taken since the 1st of the year.
