No Surgery for Jake, at least no yet.

So here is the story... Yesterday morning we were getting ready to start packing so Chris could go to Leakey and the boys and I could go to El Campo. Chris went out to check on the dogs and noticed that Jake was now way to skinny. We had noticed him getting a little skinny, but now it was worse. So while Chris went to his officer meeting at work me and the boy head in to town to take Jake to the vet at 11. My gracious sister-n-law came to my in laws to watch the boys for me. Cause there was no way I was taking both boys and Jake to the vet by myself. At the vets office they did an x-ray and was very surprised by what they saw. He must have chewed up a lot of wood, because he had a bunch of wood fragments blocking his small intestine. The vet recommended surgery, so we scheduled it for Thrusday morning. So our plans for being gone got cancelled. Late that afternoon, after spending some time outside, Jake seemed like a different dog. So back to the vet we went for another x-ray, praying there was some progress and we could avoid surgery. After comparing x-rays there seemed to be some change, but nothing significant enough to avoid surgery. So it remained scheduled for Thrusday morning. This morning Chris got up and took Jake to the vet for one more x-ray and surgery. When Jake walked in the vet was surprised to see how perky he was compared to yesterday. So, they said they would do another x-ray and call Chris to let him know what the plan would be. About 10:00, Chris called and said that it had looked like it was starting to move and that he was on his way home with Jake and some laxitives. The vet seemed to think that if we can keep it moving then surgery would be avoidable, which I am so gratefully for. Present time, Jake had been very active. He is wanting to play and eat, even though he is restricted to ice cube and saltine crackers till he has a bowel movement. So I guess we will see. Please pray that he has a bowel movement soon and we don't have to go back and have surgery after all.
