South Padre Day 2

Monday was the start of day 2. The boys were up early, even after Zach having had a rough night, which in turn meant Chris and I did not get much sleep. He did wake up in a good mood, so on with our day we went. He still had the little rash, but was not really bugged with it.

After breakfast, I had to CVS for a couple of things. When I had gotten back, Chris said that Zach was being fussy and he put him down for a nap and that Ryan was complaining about not feeling good. He was also laying down in his bed. I took Ryan's temp and he had a fever. So after some medicine he decided he still wanted to go down to the beach.

While we were downstairs waiting on everyone I notice something in Zach's ear. So back up stairs I went to get it out. It was like a big booger and I could see his tube. My first thought was an ear infection and the tube had dislodge again. Chris and I discussed it and decided to see how his day went and if he still remained crabby, we would take him to have it looked at.

At the beach, again the boys had fun. But Zach's fun did not last long. After him to really eating any lunch, I sat with him in the chair and he took a nap. He slept for about 45 minutes. When he woke up he was still crabby. So I decided to take him back to the condo for a good nap, hoping when he woke everything would be better.

Zach took about an hour nap and when he woke he was fussy and would not let me touch his ear. So him and I got dressed and walked back to the beach to tell Chris that we were headed to the doctor and to stay and enjoy the afternoon with Ryan. I took Zach to a walk-in clinic in Port Isabelle. They were very nice. We waited about 2 hours total and Zach behaved to the whole time. But while we were waiting I started to notice these bumps on Zach's hand and feet. Once the PA came in he look at Zach's ears, the reason for the visit, and said his right tube was clogged up. After looking at his ears, I asked about the spots. As soon, as he saw them he asked to look in his mouth. Sure enough there were spots there too. He had what is called Hand Foot and Mouth disease. Which is a type of virus. That is why he had a fever on Saturday. I then asked about Ryan since he was running a fever and was told just to keep an eye on him and continue the ibuprofen.

After leaving the clinic with a prescription in hand for an antiviral and drops for his ear. We headed back to the island to get the script filled and to let the other know what was going on.

Our evening was very laid back after this. Since it was our night to cook, I cook spaghetti and meat balls with a salad and bread. It was a nice evening, except for the fact the Ryan was running a fever again, but went to bed early and he slept all night, unlike Zach who again had rough night.
