South Padre Day 1

South Padre here we come!!! But before I tell you all about our first day of vacation I have to mention that Saturday night before we left Zach was running a 101.6 fever when he went to bed. This little bit of info will play a big part in our vacation so read on.

We woke up on Sunday at 4:45 in the morning to leave the house by 5 am and the Gibbon's house by 6. But was the morning went, we didn't hit the road till around 7. The boys were super excited. The car ride was about 6 hours and we arrived in South Padre around 1 ish. The boys were very good on the car ride and Zach even took a nap. After unloading our stuff into the condo and everyone got changed we headed to the beach for the afternoon. Our goal for the trip this time was to spend as much of it on the beach. Ryan was super excited and headed right in with no reservations. Zach on the other hand was not to sure, but slowly warmed up to it. The enjoyed playing in the water and sand. It was so nice to able to relax and just enjoy our time without being on a schedule.

After spending a couple of hours on the beach we headed back to the condo for some pool time. Both the boys enjoyed the pool and enjoyed playing with the other kids staying in the condos. After the pool, we headed up stairs for showers and dinner.  When we were getting ready to take showers I noticed some little bumps around Zach's waist line. I thought it was a rash from the sand or his swimsuit so after his shower I put cortizone on it and did not think much else. All the boys had matching pj's it was so cute.

Sunday, night was the Gibbon's night to cook and our night to go out. We did this last year and it was nice, so we decided to do it again. We had hot dogs for dinner with chips and beans. Up to this point Zach had been in a good mood. But at dinner time he did not really want to eat and was fussy, so off to bed he went. Well, by the time Chris and I were ready to go out, Zach had woken up, sort of. He was stirring in his bed, but not fussing. So we went ahead and left and told the Gibbon's to call us if he really started fussing.

Our first stop of our evening was to ride go-carts. I had not done this in a long time and it was so much fun. I haven't laughed so hard in a while. After go-cart we headed to Louie's backyard for a drink and dessert. We sat up top at the bar listening to the live music and just visiting without any kids around. At around 10 or so we headed back. We both had been up early with no naps and then out in the sun, so we were pretty exhausted. I wish we had stayed out longer, but I wanted to be well rested for a day on the beach the next day. So we got back and visited for a while and then hit the sack around 11.

It was such a good day to the start of our vacation.
